_____Profile
Leila Coppock - Pilates teacher and Holistic Health & Fitness Practitioner
I offer a variety of health and fitness services, including Pilates matwork classes (groups and one-to-one sessions), massage, personal training, weight management and nutrition consultancy. I am a member of the PILATESfoundation® UK, the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 3, and Embody (the Complementary Therapists Association).
I originally trained as a contemporary dancer, and I became fascinated in the human body through my studies of different movement techniques, as well as anatomy, physiology, and nutrition. Now Pilates is my passion! I am particularly interested in helping people to achieve their physical potential and develop a healthier, happier body, no matter what their barriers are. I consider myself to be hard-working, conscientious, loyal, and highly motivated.

Working as a Pilates instructor, personal trainer and nutrition consultant since 2005. |
| |
I feel I have a lot to offer my clients because I am able to draw on more than 10 years of movement experience, and I pay meticulous attention to detail. Rather than just teaching exercises, I help people to increase their self-awareness, re-educate their body, and learn more efficient functional movement patterns. I have worked at Esporta (Islington), Yogabase (Islington), Moving Arts Base (Islington), Yogaplace (Bethnal Green), Triyoga (Soho), Market Sports Gym (Old Street), Dance Attic (Fulham Broadway), David Lloyd (Finchley), Soho Gyms (Clapham), Sunstone Women's Gym (Stoke Newington), and Fitness First (Holloway), as well as running my own classes and working with private clients. I have experience of helping clients to manage a range of different injuries and conditions, and I have worked with the under-16 Bristish Dressage Squad (2006-2007), using Pilates to help them inprove their riding skills.

• |
Working as a massage therapist since 2003. |
| |
I worked as a therapist at Calmia, one of London's leading spas, for 16 months (2004 - 2005). I have also worked as a freelance massage therapist since 2003, offering both deep-tissue and relaxing massage treatments.
|
• |
Manager of Yogabase, a yoga centre in Islington, from 2001 to 2004. |
| |
This job required a great deal of initiative, as I was working alone and was largely self-taught (I was initially employed as a receptionist). I was responsible for timetabling, decision-making, communications, maintaining stock levels, cash-handling, administration, updating the website, manning reception, and training all new staff. I developed numerous skills whilst working at Yogabase, and helped the organisation to run more efficiently.
|
• |
Working as a freelance contemporary dancer, from 2000 - 2003.
| | |
I have a great deal of performance experience in different styles, dating back to my early childhood. I first started performing professionally in 1993, prior to my training at The Place. Since graduating I have been creatively involved as a collaborator on many projects, and I have worked with a variety of choreographers on contemporary dance pieces, opera, TV, and film. I was also a member of 4D, the post-graduate performance company of The Place, for 2 years (1998 - 1999).

_____Interests
I have enjoyed practising Pilates and yoga regularly since 1995, and I am especially interested in posture, freedom of movement, and a holistic approach to exercise: using imagery and the connection between the mind and the body in order to influence movement and postural patterns. Aside from my work-related interests I like film, music, animals, food, socialising, and environmental issues. I am also a keen (although not very proficient!) netball player for the Salisbury Swans netball club.
